چکیده

Measurement based on international standards for measurement (i.e. metrology) is not the same as the judgment-based quantification of implicit relationships across a mix of entities and attributes without due consideration of admissible mathematical operations on numbers of different scale types. This paper analyzes the Measurement Information Model in ISO 15939 and clarifies what in it refers to the classical metrology field, and what refers to the quantitative analysis of relationships.

Analysis of the ISO 9126 on Software Product Quality Evaluation from the Metrology and ISO 15939 Perspectives

While metrology has a long tradition of use in physics and chemistry, it is rarely referred to in the software engineering measurement, and in particular, in the design and documentation of software measures. Using the ISO 9126-4 Technical Report on the measurement of software quality in use as a case study, this paper reports on the extent to which this ISO series addresses the metrology crite...

Lean software development measures - A systematic mapping

Context. Process improvement using lean software development uses measures to answer information needs. Measures are important in process improvement as they identify whether improvements have been made or further improvements are needed. Objectives. This study aims to identify the measures proposed in literature for lean software development and structure them according to ISO/IEC 15939. Metho...

Error Propagation in Software Measurement & Estimation

The real challenge in any activity is to minimize as much as possible the error between an estimate and an actual value, whatever the phenomenon to be evaluated. When dealing with software, the number of proxies can be quite high: the application of an algorithm including one or more independent variables (measures) is finalized to provide one or more output variables (estimates) for a series o...

Investigation of the Metrology Concepts in ISO 9126 on Software Product Quality Evaluation

The ISO International Vocabulary of Basic and General Terms in Metrology (VIM) represents the international consensus on a common and general terminology of metrology concepts. However, until recently, it was not usual practice in software engineering measurement to take into account metrology concepts and criteria in the design of software measures. Using the ISO 9126-4 Technical Report on the...
